This is one of the most common mental blocks found in high performers and has stopped my clients from closing hundreds of thousands even millions of dollars of new revenue before working with me.

So let’s dive in!

See, what happens is that as you become more successful, that little voice in the back of your mind starts to creep in (once again) …

The self-doubt and negative thoughts start to flood in 

  • “What if I mess it up?”

  • “What if I lose it all?” 

  • “What if I can’t keep up?” 

You start to second guess yourself, even though you know exactly what you need to do. ⁠

The next steps are clear but you get in your head about it. ⁠

Days, weeks months pass by …but you keep stopping yourself

It’s extremely frustrating!

You start being hyper-critical of yourself because you can’t get out of your own way …

So why does this phenomenon happen?

Your subconscious is blocking the pain of failure.

Ultimately, deep down, you worry you will fail.

  • That everyone will judge you

  • They all were right, that you couldn’t pull it off 

  • That you would be embarrassed.

  • Feeling like a weak, dumb, pathetic loser

Because at this level you have something to lose and there is now immense pressure to perform & “keep up”.

Ultimately since there is more on the line, you have (and feel) massive responsibility now 

  • Dealing with bigger numbers than ever before 

  • Responsible for the livelihood of so many (you can’t let them down)

  • More pressure to deliver “perfection”  and value

  • Maintaining your new lifestyle

  • Big decisions on expansion, restructuring & company culture 

  • Building an exit strategy

Subconscious block #1:  Your identity is not aligned with your new level of success, so you sabotage it. 

So even though you want next level success … deep down you don’t feel you can handle it. 

In fear you will f*ck it up

So you psych yourself out and stall because you don't feel worthy.

So that is one layer but unfortunately, your subconscious is a complex beast

Mindset Exercises

  1. Reflect on Your Key Achievements

    First, identify your most significant achievements. Then, focus on those that experienced a decline or drop off in success soon after their peak.

  2. Time for Introspection

    If it helps, you might find it helpful to close your eyes and visualize yourself in the days following your major success. Make sure you are associated, looking through your own eyes. Pay attention to the thoughts that arise without judgment.

    Write these down. Additionally, observe and note any behaviors you exhibited in the days, weeks, or months following your achievement that are self-sabotaging & disempowering.

  3. Look for Patterns in Your Thoughts and Actions

    These patterns reveal the influence of your subconscious mind are the factors hindering your continued success.

    BONUS: Apply the same exercises towards BIG opportunities that fell through at the “last second”.
